LEGACY
Mothers of Gifted Daughters Share their Wisdom
The Perfect Storm (Book One)
In The Perfect Storm, author Lea Stublarec describes the triumphs, challenges, and joys experienced by veteran mothers who raised successful, gifted daughters in our anti-intellectual, patriarchal society. The often-neglected stories of these mothers who have ”been there and done that” are especially invaluable for women currently facing the challenge of nurturing female genius. These firsthand accounts will elicit tears, laughter, and, most importantly, hope—given that their adult, gifted daughters are thriving despite the numerous obstacles they faced growing up.

The Perfect Storm is the first book in the series, Legacy: Mothers of Gifted Daughters Share their Wisdom. This book explores the challenges forty-three mothers encountered on their off-road parenting journeys with their gifted, neurodiverse offspring. Given that knowledge is power, their experiences will help demystify the terrain for younger mothers while acknowledging that the parenting journey each mother embarks on with her gifted daughter will be uniquely her own.

"The Perfect Storm provides a great roadmap for mothers raising gifted daughters"
Paula Wilkes, Ph.D., Coach and Consultant, Summit Center
I was fortunate to have the help of two experts in giftedness as members of the study team. Dr. Carol Dweck, the renowned psychology professor at Stanford University, served as a scholarly eye during the design phase of the study. And Dr. Paula Wilkes, a specialist wth Summit Center/Los Angeles that serves gifted children and families, provided on-going wisdom and insights throughout the entire research process. I am also incredibly grateful to the 43 amazing women who themselves were gifted and who shared so openly what they learned as mothers of successful gifted daughters in the hope of helping mothers currently raising gifted girls.
